Linux Ubuntu 10.04
This is a great alternative to Windows. Although it has virtually 0 support for games, it can support everything else. Linux is much faster than windows and can take no time at all to start up compared to Windows. If you have an old computer just load it with Ubuntu and watch it suprise you. Linux also is much more customizable than Windows and has a bunch of customizations that you can add to it to make it look really cool and interesting. Check it out if your looking for a free alternative to Windows.
