GIMP was developed to be a piece of freeware from day 1. GIMP is as close as you can get to profession photo editing and creating as you can get without actually buying Photoshop. In our view we think it is just as good as Photoshop and is a very powerful and wonderful creation tool. It supports a wide variety of image formats, has layers, filters, and many of the other features that Photoshop does have.
